  • Hi Maria,

You can log into your server using FTP. rename your theme (badjohnny)’s folder in wp-contents/themes/, that will activate your default theme.

Then you can see what you changed in the ‘badjohnny’ at leisure and fix it!

    Thank you !! ??

    What is FTP?

    WordPress Codex > FTP Clients

Renaming the theme will only work if the default theme is installed on the site which is not always the case with every installation specially if it was installed using a host control panel.

For starters, you need to share more information, what is the current hosting service? what is the hosting panel? is it cPanel or plesk, or a custom panel provided.

If you’re able to use the file manager from your hosting panel, I recommend sharing the php code of functions.php to take a look and maybe send you a revised version that you will replace with the existing file to fix your site, additionally, you shouldn’t edit PHP if you don’t know what you’re doing : )

    Good luck!

    Dear Motaz

Right now I am trying to get access to my page through FTP – but it is not working. It says that the login is wrong. And that it can’t connect to the server. And I have tried all different login.

My host is DK Hostmaster – that is all I know? What is a hosting panel?

I will never ever edit PHP again – I can promise you – I will get help in stead.

But right now I am wondering what my options are?

How did you access your host the first time?

    Hi Anemone,

Do you have cPanel access to your website? Can you browse files there? If yes, you can rename the theme ‘badjohnny’ directory there.
To use FTP, you need to use FTP username & password, usually different from WordPress username and password. Your hosting company must have and will provide that to you.

One more way it should work is to replace the functions.php you edited with a fresh copy from the same theme.

    My host is DK Hostmaster

DK Hostmaster is only a Domain Name Registrar Service. (https://www.dk-hostmaster.dk/english)

On this site you can administer your domain name on the Danish part of the Internet; our job is to manage all .dk domain names.

Where your site is – would be a Hosting Service – where you purchased the space to put your site (…like Bluehost or HostGator or Godaddy).

So my question is: is UnoEuro (https://en.unoeuro.com/) your hosting service?

Thank you so much everyone. Now I have access in Ftp. But I have no idea what to do next?

Is there a place where I can find a guide – like first step next step?

I can se in your comments that I have to redefine my Theme, and correct my mistake but how?

If one of you gets my login information – could you correct it? I am willing to pay you for it! Just afraid that I will do something wrong again !

It’s OK, most probably it’s a simple issue, are you able to navigate to ‘/wp-content/themes/badjohnny/’ using your FTP client? if yes then please go there, you will find a file with the name functions.php listed, share the code of that file here and will send you a revised version of code to add to that file, then upload it to the server again, let me know if you need help with that.

I don’t know how to use FTP client?

After sign into your FTP account, go following way

    wp-content -> themes

in themes folder, rename “badjohnny” by right click and rename.

They have this rule not ask ppl to contact one another personally, not sure I understand the reason behind this one, but you can add your email and I will contact you, that’s allowed..I think!

Actually, no email links, please. The reasons are in the WordPress Codex Forum Welcome here and here and here.

What if we need to contact to offer a free help?!
