Can't log in

So you can NEVER login or just sometimes?

What’s your site URL? Where is it hosted?

I haven’t been able to log in for a couple of days. I have previously logged in many times without issue, but not at all able to for the last 2 days or so.

I have a custom theme template uploaded that I just saw has an update (most of the update having to do with back end upgrades), not sure if this theme is the issue…?

I really just barely get by doing my own website, so I’m not very knowledgable. I’m afraid if I update the theme through my FTP that I will lose all customizations.

Okay, so we’ll need to start troubleshooting – so using FTP, first rename the plugins folder:

wp-content
    pluginsOLD

See if that makes any difference. If not rename your theme’s folder:

wp-content
    themes
       spatreatsHOLD

Make sure you clear your browser cache after each change before trying to login.

Did both. No change, except now the log in page isn’t coming up at all.
It just keeps ‘thinking’

I still see your theme on your site, so whatever you did, didn’t work to change the theme. Can you try it again?

I did finally get an error message after trying to log in at makingyouflawless.com/wp-login.php

it said Safari can’t open the page because the server isn’t responding

But you are able to connect via FTP?

Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies from your browser and/or tried another browser?

OK, I had renamed the wrong file ?? sorry its been renamed

I am on the godaddy site, in the file manager. is that right?

What file did you rename ? The theme? Do you have a copy of the twentytwelve theme in that folder?

I cleared cache and all files, reset safari. Tried multiple browsers:

safari, white page after trying to log in
google chrome: says no data
firefox: connection to server was reset while page was loading

THe first time renamed the theme folder, but not the one under wpcontent. Fixed it and renamed the theme folder under wpcontent.

Twenty twelve, twenty eleven and twenty thirteen are all in that folder.

You’re only supposed to rename YOUR theme:

wp-content
    themes
       spatreatsHOLD

Yes, that’s how it is now. Just as you have it, but in that theme folder are the ones I named above, too.

So it’s just like the above – because the site is not working at all now.
