    Can anybody fathom this?

If i choose plain images for a gallery, then it comes out fine. However if i opt for captioned images, which is what I need to do, then extra images are added to the gallery. I’m not sure if its a bug or something silly that I’m overlooking?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks Esmi,

I did try that and it still did it (although i didn’t try FTP as i am unable to access it.)

I got a plug in to solve the issue in the end but it brought me to a new one.

It is pretty integral to the fabric of the site i am doing that the images link. However despite putting a link in both the caption and the Gallery URL, all it will open is an attachment page-which I don’t want. Is there a way that I can get my links to overrule the attachment page?

Not via the native WordPress gallery, no. Perhaps you need to look for a suitable gallery plugin?
