I am updating a website after some time and erroneously thought we had an SSL so changed the urls in settings, general to https from http and have created an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR and am now unable to access the admin panel and the site is down. Added to this, the arrangement is that I am a third party with no access to the Hosting provider as there is another company which manages that. So I only have access to the WordPress platform. How can I undo the action. Any help really appreciated.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I am afraid that without FTP or SSH access on the server you cannot do anything, unless you contact the site owner so he can explain the hosting provider what happened. The site might also have a backup ready to be reverted to which should “in theory” solve this very quickly..

Please contact the support of your hoster. Apparently they first have to store an SSL certificate for your domain so that it can be accessed.

Thanks for responses. The Hoster added the SSL Certificate and we are back in business.
