Help: Changed URL, New URL does not show up in Google

  • Hi,
    I recently changed my WordPress blog URL from “www.alyssiav.wordpress.com” to “www.emergingathletes.wordpress.com” However my old URL still shows up in google searches and when clicked it says “Page Not Found.”
    Just wondering how i can stop my old URL from showing up, and making my new URL show up instead, so that viewers are actually redirected to my blog and not a broken link.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • These are WordPress forums for sites running software from WordPress.ORG. As your blog is hosted by WordPress.COM, please seek support at: https://en.support.wordpress.com

    If you are wanting your new url in search engines and your old one not, this will take google a few weeks to do, usually around 3 weeks.

    If you want to forward your url, you can do this in your hosting control panel. If you use most hosting companies have live chat, so ask on there.

    DO NOT try and forward it from your actual WordPress control panel as I did this and it created quite a few problems.
