• I’m hoping I can get some WordPress users to help me check my site’s load speed in IE – innovatetec.com

I built it for a client, and he reports that it’s taking 30 seconds or more to load for him – using IE. I’ve done almost everything to improve the speed. I checked the site at gtmetrix.com and I’m getting results of 95 from Google and 88 using YSlow. It shows a load time of about 4 seconds. That’s how long it takes when I view it using Firefox or Chrome. IE takes a second or two longer.

I’ve asked a couple of friends to take look, and they report 4-5 seconds. I can’t understand why it’s so slow for the client (and his assistant at another location).

If anyone could spare a few seconds to take a look, and let me know how long it takes, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!- Tom

  • For full page load:

15 seconds to load in FireFox.
12 seconds to load in IE.
    13 seconds in Safari.
    12 seconds in Chrome.

Most of that time was devoted to downloading the .swf file.

Though it actually takes between 4 and 6 seconds to get a response from the page at all (by which I mean the time between sending the request for the page and the rendering of the first piece of content).

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, that big flash file has got to go. It’s what the client wanted, but definitely too big – plus not good for mobile.
