Help – External link on a featured image?

Hello there,

I want to add external links through some featured images on my wordpress blog. Currently the code looks like this:

As you can see – the thumb (featured image) is imported via a custom field. Now I want to link that thumb / featured image not only inside my own site, but also to some external things.

How can I configure my script so that I can also link to external sites on that featured image?

I think I have to work with a custom field again, right? Perhaps there’s somebody here who can help me cause I am not THAT kind of an expert in coding things.
