• Hi Marcel, thanks for this very useful plugin. I must say I love it as it is the only one I know that allows link external images in the media library. It is clever and handy.

But I have to admit I get slightly affraid every time there is a new update, as the behaviour of the plugin evolves incoherently. That could be improved.

Since last update, FIFU replaces existing post’s featured image every time a post is updated. This is scary. I discovered this simply by bulk editing keywords on a few hundred posts. Bang. All their featured images got replaced by FIFU with images from their content. This is very wrong. I’m managing sites with tens of thounsands of posts, and I’m getting pretty nervous right now, as there are many reasons why a post would get updated, and I hate to have to go fix every single post manually, sometimes multiple times. I’m wasting an undecent amount of time on this right now.

Here are my humble suggestions :
    – FIFU should NEVER replace an existing featured image when the post has one already
    – On top of that, the “don’t get URL from post content” tick box should be stored in the post metadata and striclty observed every time a post get updated for whatever reason

I hope my post doesn’t sound too harsh. Thanks for taking the time to develop and support this essential plugin.
