Help Finding a Business Directory Plugin

  • Hi there, does anyone know if there is a module that can be added to WordPress where we can include a Business Directory to our website. When I say business directory, I mean a directory similar to Yellow Pages or DMOZ where a registered business can login and updated their details etc.

    The website owner (us) would only have to review and approve directory listings.

    It would be handy if we could also incorporate something like paid listings but this isnt crutial.

  • I find this whole situation surrounding a decent Business Directory plugin for WordPress intriguing. We are looking for exactly the same functionality for various WordPress sites that we are busy with.

    Something like SOBI is doing for Joomla.

    For the life of me I can not figure out why plugin developers for WordPress can not see the advantages of such a plugin. Let me give you this one example (there are literally hundreds of other examples where such a plugin would be awesome!). Let’s look at a blog serving the tourism industry and you want to present a directory of listings of all your members…….or all the Accommodation establishments within your area. Okay, while I’m on a roll, let me give you more examples. A Chamber of Commerce with their own blog….wanting to list all their members in three categories namely 1. Basic Listing – only name and telephone number; 2. Intermediate listing – same as basic with more contact details added and 3. Full listing with description and 1 to 3 photos and logo.

    Think about a sport blog wanting to offer listings to all the clubs in their area. Like I said, hundreds of examples.

    And yet, no plugin for WordPress offers that functionality!!!

    Mindblowing really.

    I have to add my request for such a plugin also. This plugin comes close
    wp-directory-list
    but I have a need to use a drop down menu to choose the business category. Any ideas anyone?
