Help – how do I make text box widgets?

Hi forum

I would like to make a website in WP for a friend. Not a blog. In the main content area on the front page there shall be three text boxes. The site shall be very easy to update, and it shall be possible to edit the content in the boxes directly from the admin-area.

Do you know a tutorial that describes how to make text box widgets. I have tried to Google it – but I cant find any relevant results.
