HELP. I accidentally erased the “footer.php” code trying to modify it. How can I get this back?! I am using the Divi2.0 theme, if that makes a difference. Is there a way to get the default code again or “time machine” back to previously saved version?

It seems to have affected a bunch of things on the site.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • The best in this case would be to re-download the theme to your computer, copy the text in the footer file, and place it in your footer file where you deleted the code.

would this erase all of my content by re-downloading the theme? when i do re-download it, how would i get back to the current one to replace the code?

Just re-download it to your desktop, don’t place it where any of your WordPress files are and it won’t erase anything.

The only thing replacing the theme would do would be erase any changes you have made to the theme files (which you shouldn’t be doing anyways – they should all be in a child theme.) It would not erase the actual content of your site (posts, pages)

    Thanks so much, it worked!
