    Hello there,

This is going to be a bit of a reading for you. I apologise!

I had planned to launch my new online consultancy newsletter service business on 1st July 2024, but unfortunately, I’ve encountered several issues that have prevented me from achieving this milestone. At the moment, I am currently struggling to resolve these problems and am at the end of my road.

I’ve build my website entirely 90% on my own, despite having no prior experience in website development (I’m a 53-year-old gentleman who prefers to do things the old-fashioned way by letting the expert doing it for me), because I wanted to handle everything myself so I could understand every aspect of my online business, But now I find myself in need of assistance.

I followed all the instructions provided by the Paid Member Subscriptions and Stripe as my gateway system. But it seems like everything is working against me. At this point, I feel lost and confused, and I don’t know where else to turn. I’m at my wit’s end and urgently need help. I’ve been trying to find support but haven’t had any success until I reached the “Migration” section where I noticed a description below during an issue with the uploading:

    Formatted File

Once your file is formatted to the recommended template, upload the CSV to migrate your existing subscriptions. If you need any help, contact the support team.”

So I contacted them, but its been four days of no reply from the Stripe’s support teams.

My concern is, I’m not sure if I’ve successfully connected everything smoothly between my Paid Member Subscriptions back-office website and Stripe account, because:

    1. There’s an issue with uploading the CSV file and responding to an error after following the Stripe’s directions.
    2. Upon reviewing my Paid Member Subscriptions back-office settings after adding the URL in the Webhooks section and adding the “Listen to Stripe events” codes they required, the result of both the “Success” and “Waiting for data…” indicators appear in Orange instead of Green
    3. Despite testing a payment in “Test Mode“, no Test Mode email is coming from my Stripe account, yet.

So my concern is, have I miss something out why nothing is working?

Please, I’ve been struggling with this issue for almost a week, and I’m feeling very frustrated and upset and don’t know what to do. I don’t want to throw away the three years of hard work I’ve been putting into building my website.

If you know how everything works connectively, please help direct me. And if you require any information for your inquiries to help me get there, please do not hesitate to email me. I don’t mind if you ask me to restart the process from the beginning. All I need is to get there successfully.

Desperately need your help and your assistance in resolving this matter urgently would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know. Thank you.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Bismarck

    Hi @spicon1,

I’ve been trying to find support but haven’t had any success until I reached the “Migration” section where I noticed a description below during an issue with the uploading:

    “Formatted File

Once your file is formatted to the recommended template, upload the CSV to migrate your existing subscriptions. If you need any help,?contact the support team.”?

“So I contacted them, but its been four days of no reply from the Stripe’s support teams.

-> The migration of other subscriptions to your Stripe account is something that is solely related to Stripe and only they can help with this.

Very important to mention here that our implementation of Stripe does not rely on the creation of subscription plans inside of your Stripe account. We only make payments through Stripe, but your site (with the PMS plugin) is handling the subscriptions side. So if a user purchases a PMS subscription plan from your site then your site will be sending the data to Stripe (and so the payment will appear in your Stripe account) and not the other way around.

Upon reviewing my?Paid Member Subscriptions?back-office settings after adding the URL in the?Webhooks section and adding the “Listen to Stripe events” codes they required, the result of both the “Success” and “Waiting for data…” indicators appear in?Orange?instead of?Green.?

-> The webhooks status will change from “Waiting for data” to “Connected” only after you have the first completed payment on your site.

Despite testing a payment in “Test Mode“, no?Test Mode?email is coming from my?Stripe?account, yet.

-> Paid Member Subscriptions also sends emails to both the user and Administrator regarding the subscription plans. The content of these emails can be modified by going to Paid Member Subscriptions -> Settings -> E-Mails. You can read more about this here.

To check if the emails are being sent by our plugin, you can use an Email Logging plugin like the one from here.

What we always recommand to check if everything is working correctly is that you briefly put our plugin in Test Mode (which you said you’ve already done), after which open an Incognito browser window and go to the front-end page where you have the PMS Registration form and purchase a subscription plan from there. To check if the process and payment were done correctly (besides seeing the confirmation message in the front-end), you as an Administrator can go to your site’s Dashboard -> Paid Member Subscriptions -> Payments page, and check if that payment has the status Completed, and after that you can go to the PMS -> Members page and check if that user has the correct membership assigned to them and that the status is set to Active.

You can read more about Test Mode testing with Stripe as a payment gateway here: https://www.cozmoslabs.com/docs/paid-member-subscriptions/payment-gateways/stripe-connect/#Test_mode. In this documentation page you can also find testing cards that can be used for this purpose.

    Hello @alexandrubodea,

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I’ve followed your suggestions closely and here’s what I’ve learned:

    1. I realised that the ‘migration’ aspect isn’t necessary for me since I have no data to export to my Stripes account.
    2. The PMS integration is working well, and I’m receiving data in my Stripe account when users purchase a subscription.
    3. I have tested them in a hundreds of time but I am still not getting the grip of how everything works connectively. It’s quite confusing especially setting up the Stripes’ subscription and their configurations.
    4. I downloaded the Email Log plugin, but only 2 out of 50 emails have been received. Could there be something I’m missing here?
    5. I’ve verified that all purchasing and receiving processes are functioning correctly through testing it out myself.
    6. Now there’s one problem I have been struggling with, an issue with my PMS subscription setup connection to Stripe account. I spent several days trying to resolved this issue, and eventually, I switched to using Stripe’s Payment Link code directly into my website’s button instead of the PMS code. This approach works well with me. And I can still see the users’ purchases activation in my PMS back-office. While this simplifies things out, I’m still not receiving any welcome email, and the verification code to my phone after registering/subscribing through Stripes’ front-end registration/subscription under the test-mode. Could this be due to the test mode, or is there something else I might be missing?

Please let me know. Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Bismarck

    3. I have tested them in a hundreds of time but I am still not getting the grip of how everything works connectively. It’s quite confusing especially setting up the Stripes’ subscription and their configurations.

->As stated in my previous message, while using Paid Member Subscriptions, you do not need to create any subscriptions in PMS. All the subscription plan needs to be created in our plugin and our plugin send the necessary information to your Stripe account (and not the other way around).

    4. I downloaded the Email Log plugin, but only 2 out of 50 emails have been received. Could there be something I’m missing here?

-> If the emails are listed there (are listed in the Email Log) then it means the plugin is sending them but there is a good chance there are filters set up on the server that might block some outgoing emails and I would suggest you contact your web hosting provider and ask them if this is the case. Or maybe you can try to use a SMTP plugin (maybe something like?this).

    6. I’m not sure exactly what Payment Link you’re referring to. Are you still using the PMS Registration form? Could you please provide the URL of the page where you have the Registration form?

    Hello Alexandrubode,

Thank you for your reply. I apologise for the delay in getting back to you.

I’ve taken some time to fully absorb the information you provided, and it has helped me think more clearly. Your clarification on point #3, specifically the part about “(…not the other way around),” was particularly helpful. I was struggling with that while setting up my Stripe account and it was the reason for my confusion, so your explanation made things much clearer. So I have decided to proceed with a one-way system, thanks to your guidance.

Regarding the Email Logs and SMTP plugins, I will continue to evaluate these options further.

I was referring to the Payment Link option in Stripe’s checkout, but that’s all changed.

Thank you for your assistance. I truly appreciate it.

    Best regards,

    Bismarck
