We just installed the latest free version on Ultimate TinyMCE via WordPress plugin install page (we are using WordPress via Yahoo Small Business hosting). After install, we deactivated the TinyMCE then activated Ultimate TinyMCE. The backend of WordPress is now broken. I can click on the left-hand column but every page in the backend in blank.

The file manager in the Yahoo CPanel won’t let me delete the Ultimate TinyMCE subdirectory (although we were able to delete the TinyMCE). How can I delete Ultimate TinyMCE if not using FTP/cPanel. Can I deactivate it in a PHP file?

As of right now, everything in our dashboard is blank.

Also…We can’t change themes, see other plugins that are activated/deactivated/installed/uninstalled, etc. All we do is click the links on the left but nothing displays.

    Hi,

I’m sorry to say that this plugin only works on WP version 3.5.1 or higher. This is because there were some major javascript changes in version 3.5. Many plugin and theme developers had to make changes to keep their “projects” properly working on the most current version of WP.

So, I would highly recommend you update your WP to the latest version… not only for uses of this plugin, but also for security reasons.

You can always manually delete this plugin from your WP installation by using either FTP or your hosts cPanel to gain access to your file directories… then navigate to “wp-content/plugins”… and finally delete the folder named “ultimate-tinymce”.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

We tried to delete the entire Ultimate-TinyMCE folder but it refuses to delete. This in itself may be an issue with the cPanel.

So Im wondering if I can deactivate the plugin in one of it’s PHP files…then see if I can use the dashboard again.

Or can I rename it to de-activate it?

Yeah… you can try to rename it.

That’s strange it won’t let you delete. Perhaps call your host? If your user permissions don’t match the server permissions (common on some hosts), you could run into this problem.

    Thanks for the quick response.

So, while the cPanel/FTP wouldnt let me delete the Ultimate-TinyMCE subdirectory, it would let me rename. This made the dashboard functional again. Then I was able to delete the plugin via the WordPress interface.

Will update WordPress and try it again.

Thanks again for the quick help!

    My pleasure, my friend ??

I’m glad to hear you are going to upgrade. Smart move!!

I’d love for you to rate and review the plugin once you have had a chance to familiarize yourself with all of it’s functionalities. You can do so from the plugin page.

Also, please let me know how it works once you update your WP.

Won’t be able to update WordPress for another week but I tried Ultimate TinyMCE on another (updated) installation and all worked fine.

    Thanks again for the assistance.
