• Hello.
My blog is at godtreasure.net. I was screwing around in the code and tried changing the value for the header height under Theme Functions. Now I get an error when I try logging onto my site. I cleared the cache. Nothing. Trying not to panic….

    Thank you for your help!

Then replace the bad functions file with a new copy (download a copy of the theme to your desktop and upload it via FTP).

I have no idea what that means. You’re going to have to talk to me like I’m 10. lol. Step by step, please. Thank you!

Do you have FTP access set up for your site — it would be through your host?

I use Bluehost. I’m on the cpanel page right now. I see ftp accounts, ftp session control and unlimited ftp. They also have a site backup & restore??

what, wpyogi said, the only way to fix it now is to go through your host.

you’ll have to contact them of how to ftp or how to use cpannel or whatever program it is.

they probably gave you a screen name and a password to log into a website where you can see statistics of your site. in there is probably a file manager program. you’ll have to go in there and find the file.

    go to cpannel then

    go to file manager

    go to public_html/wp-content/themes

click on your theme and go to functions.php and if you can remember what it was before you can fix it there

okay. I went to file manager and public_html, clicked on my theme, but i don’t see anything that says functions.php

i doubt you deleted it. try searching for it

how much edititing have you done to your theme?

I’ve edited just a few minor things, color, font. I see the error_log from today and something else from today that says wp-content

yeah, i’ve looked through every one, nothing that says functions.php, or wp-functions.php

if you dont care about losing those things, you could just download the theme to your computer and upload the functions.php file to replace the old one.

or download win merge and it compares the differences in two files.

so youll copy and paste the text from your edited file to a word doc and save it. then copy and paste the text from the new functions.php file and save it separately. open them in winmerge and youll see all the differences and you can just fix the one that doesnt allow your site to work without losing your other stuff.

    click on wp_content
    then click on themes

Okay, how do I get the text from the edited file? And then where is the new functions.php file? Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it.
