Help – locked out due to "too many login attempts"

Just recently my site made an automatic upgrade of WordPress and afterwards I started experiencing problems. At first a couple of plugins stopped working and then suddenly I got an e-mail notification from iThemes Security that I (my admin account) was locked out of WordPress for a period of time “due to too many login attempts.
And then the following:
“To release the lockout please visit the lockouts page.”I thought perhaps it was an attempt to hack my site with a fishing e-mail, so I didn’t click the link. However, when I subsequently found out that I in fact HAD been ejected from our site and that I now can’t enter again, I got a bit perplexed. Particularly, because I am the only one with access.
Do any of you have an idea what could be going on and what I should do?
