lost all images from blog

  • Is anyone able to help. I was trying to tidy up my blogs and deleted my wordpress.com blog as I now have a selfhosted blog with WP.org. My posts are still there but all the pictures are not displaying, the space where they were is blank with a smal red cross in a box in the top left hand corner. I am so worried I have lost my content. My likes for each post have also dissapeared to?

    I thought because I had exported all my data to wp.org, that deleting my wp.com site would be OK and I wouldnt loose any of my content?

    If you have not exported all your contents to your new site and deleted your WordPress.com blog, it is possible that you may lose whatever is not exported. However, you may contact WordPress.com support to see if they can help.

    Edit: I find that you were advised to contact WordPress.COM three days ago by WPyogi. Have you followed the advice?

    Hi Krishna,

    Yes I did this and WP.com staff moved my folllowers over. All my site contents were exported over to WP.org so I am unsure why the post content I did on WP.com is not all visible now I have deleted my WP.com blog?

    Deactivate all plugins, revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if you find images.

    Done and Done. They are showing now, what if I would like to use the Adelle theme?

    Does this mean I canno’t get my blog to dislay properly in the adelle theme?

    Now you may change the theme to Adelle and see if it works.

    Hi Krishna,

    The images are still not displaying properly. I am worried I have lost them for good with Adelle? Do you know why this is happening? I thought when I exported all my content from WP.COM that it would be OK to delete my WP.com blog?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Now if I try again to deactivate all my plugins and change to twenty twelve theme my images don’t display either ??

    They’re showing up for me. Try clearing your browser cache.

    Also, what browser are you using?

    I’m using safari on my ipad at the moment, will try playing with my settings! Anyway to get all the likes I had on my posts back? Thanks!

    If they are likes from WordPress.COM, those are not transferable – that’s a feature specific to .COM networked sites.
