• Hi,

I was working on a website (www.castawaymediasolutions.com) and having trouble getting it to publish on my domain host (name.com). I realized that my host offered an easy install of wordpress so I went through that process. When I logged into my admin account, my unpublished site was gone and all my themes! It was like I wasn’t previously every in wordpress. Help please! really hoping I haven’t lost all that hard work!!

    Thanks
    Dawn

  • Hi Dawn,

The quick WordPress install solution provided by hosts usually creates a new database for the site, so the content (pages, posts, menus, etc.) may still be there but the site is linked to the new database. You may be able to revert by changing the credentials in the wp-config.php file.
As for the files, i.e. your themes, plugins and media, there’s a chance that they have been wiped out by the installer. You need to check through FTP, look in the /wp-content/themes, /wp-content/plugins and /wp-content/uploads directories.

Additionally, when I visit your site I can see that it is trying to load assets from yourdomain/dir/ but it gets a 404 not found for those files, there might be some mix up with the site URLs too.
I’d recommend getting in touch with your hosting provider.

    Hope that helps.

Update: can no longer log into the admin page. All I get is:

    Not Found

The requested URL /dir/wp-login.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Your site is loading (Minus CSS) at, https://www.castawaymediasolutions.com/index.php/2016/07/22/hello-world/

Looks like you initially installed it at https://www.castawaymediasolutions.com/dir but all that is missing.
