Help managing widgets

  • I honestly don’t really know what I’m doing. I work for a small non-profit and somehow I managed to get put in charge of updating our website. I am a fairly smart individual and managed to figure some stuff out on my own by trial and error. I can’t seem to figure out how to change the widgets that appear on the left and right sidebars. Let me re-phrase, I can switch the ad from a list of existing ones that someone made at some point along the way. Except now these are old and most either need to be removed or changed and THAT is what I need help with. Please excuse my ignorance, I apologize but please help me!!

    Also I’m not even sure if that is the correct version of wordpress that i am using.

    I’m sure we can figure this out together! First thing, if you are looking at changing the sidebar this can be done fairly easily.

    1. Login to the admin backend (https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin
    2. Go to Appearance > Widgets
    3. Add, delete, or move, the Widgets you wish to!

    It also sounds like you may be looking to change ad placements on your page? If this is the case there are a few ways these could currently be displayed.

    1. Widget-based (The above solution should help)
    2. Adsense-Plugin: In which case you would have to go to Settings > Adsense
    3. Theme based: Going to Appearance > Customize should help you get started
