help me installing WP Multisite BuddyPress

  • i have just bought a domain uetblogs.com and wanted to set up WP Multisite+BuddyPress , i have installed wordpress and buddypress but i am unable to setup WP Multisite. i have read https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Create_A_Network but i am unable to understand “Step 2: Setting Wildcard Subdomains” as i am not a pro :(. please can any one help me in setting up this Wp Multisite .. thnaks

  • Are you planning on using sites in the subdomain format? Like username.yourdomain.com?

    If not, and you’re picking subFOLDERS, where it will be yourdomain.com/username/ then you do not have to do that step.

    Also! Ask your webhost support. the technical end of that really has to be someone knowledgeable, and if you are on a shared host, you will not be able to edit Apache at all anyway. if your webhost supports it, all you need to do is add a * as a subdomain in your control panel.

    i want subdomains like username.yourdomain.com
    i contacted to the support member at BlueHost (my host) he says they dont support Wild Card DNS. ?? what can i do now?? is there any thing which can be done in this situation !!!! ??

    No, becasue they control Apache on their end.

    Some users here in the forum say they *do* support it on the main domain of your account. Go to Subdomains in cpanel and add a new one with a value of *.
