Help me pick a theme to get started?

I need to redo my club’s website and have set up the hosting at hostgator.com and installed wordpress. It would seem that the next step is to pick and install a theme…

but there are SO many choices out there that my mind is swimming to the point of standstill (which is odd for me).

Here are the things I’m looking for:
* No blogging going on at all
* responsive (is that the right term) to screen sizes
* Front page minimalist, but easy for people to navigate to “desired topics” without having to scroll around or hunt for it.
* A set of sub-pages that will hold the club’s ‘official documents’ (ByLaws, meeting minutes, etc.
* A login-restricted area for club members only to be able to view the membership list (including both thumbnail and bigger pictures).
