    Help. I just tried to install a plugin which required me to ad code to the functions.php. When I updated the file my site when down. Now I can’t even get into my dashboard to fix it, and I don’t even know how to fix it. I just want to get in and remove the code I had put in. Thanks so much.. I am dismayed that the site went down and am very new to this.

  • If it’s the function.php in your theme, either download and reupload that file from the original theme, or delete the whole theme and start over.

    Also, if you make changes, consider doing backups before doing so.

    Michael, Thank you. I am currently locked out of wordpress. It is the function.php. I can’t even get into wordpress though so how can I get the files from the original theme or change them?

    Michael, I have the original files from my comp-

    for the fuction.ph they are-

    <?php

    if ( function_exists(‘register_sidebars’) )
    register_sidebar();

    ?>

    Now how do I get into the damaged files? I am looking through my file manager on my control panel but am not familiar with this.
