Help Needed: 404 Error on Homepage in Firefox

I have my set my base URL (example.com) in WP settings to point to the subdirectory where my site is installed(“page” is the directory name) and then copied the index.php and htacess file to the root. It works fine in IE with the base domain connecting to the subdirectory, but in Firefox, its directing the URL to “example.com/page/” (page being the directory of the installation), which gives me a 404 “Page Not Found” error.

Anyone ever encounter this in FF? What might be the possible fix?
