    Hello Translatepress support,

I really have a serious issue that hopefully you will be able to help me with.

Yesterday everything was working as it should be until I got a notification that the theme has been updated (or at least this is what I think is the reason because I started to notice the issues at the same time after the theme update). My website has English (default language) and Arabic (that I translated via Translatepress). On the English website, I started to notice some strings are showing in Arabic which was weird to me so I opened Translatepress to see what’s going on, I found out that somehow those English strings were replaced by the Arabic translation (automatic google translation because they are not the ones I used in my Arabic translation) so I removed those translations from the English language (and there were cases I found the original English strings were changed to Arabic and I couldn’t find the original English ones so I had to use the “exclude strings from being translated feature” from the setting to fix them) and I thought it was a bug or something and it got fixed. But the thing is I checked after some hours to find out those same issues are back and this time there are even more string showing Arabic strings on the English website.

    Please check these screenshots

I’m really worried now because that it a serious problem. We believe in TranslatePress and spent alot of time translating the site. I really hope that you would be able to help me fix this issue so I don’t need to use another translation plugin and start over again.

    Thanks,
    Salwan

  • Hi Salwan,

I’m sorry for the late reply.

I looked over your site to understand better what the problem was, but everything seemed to work fine. There were no string Arabic strings on the English version or the other way around (except for those that made sense).

Let me know if you still have this problem.

    Best regards,
    Cristian

    Hi Cristian,

Unfortunately I just noticed your reply as the notification was sitting in my spam folder.

You were not able to see those strings because I had to add those strings in the “exclude gettext strings” fields in the advanced setting in order to prevent them from showing Arabic on the English version. Please see this screen shot https://ibb.co/gVRrr3h But the thing is every sometime I notice more with the same case so I have to spend time figuring out the exact original string in English (since all I can see in this case is Arabic strings as the original ones) and add them in the advanced setting to prevent them from being translated. Most of those strings are from Woocommerce and another plugin called “Digits”

Beside this issue I have other two issues that are driving me crazy because the make the website look really cheap and unprofessional.

The second one is more complicated. In the Arabic version, most of the original Woocommerce strings are showing in Arabic (the google kinda Arabic) although in the English version the show as English original strings). it’s like there are two versions of the ORIGINAL strings one is English and the other is Arabic. And there is no specific pattern or rule for them. So on the frontend when I’m switching to the Arabic version of the site, I will see those WC strings first switching from English to the Google Arabic and them after a few seconds My Arabic will show
Please check these screenshot see the issue

And the third issue is with product variation display. I’m using Woocommerce variation swatches and on the English version everything seems ok. But with the Arabic version there is a huge space on the color selection. Please check this screenshot

I really hope you guys can help me with those issues as they really have a bad impact on the website look and function, and that doesn’t give a good impression to the user when they see my website with those things.

    Regards,
    Salwan

    Hello Salwan,

I’m voer two months late, so you probably don’t need help with this anymore.

For the first problem, you could try to install this plugin. https://translatepress.com/docs/developers/disable-translation-of-gettext-strings/

I’m not really sure about the second problem, but maybe you can check the console while in the front-end of TP for any warnings or changes.

As for the third problem, that one probably has something to do with bad formatted HTML that’s not well processed by TP on the translated language.

You can try the following: Go to Settings -> TranslatePress -> Advanced. Then enable these features 1 by 1 in this order and try to see if it makes a difference. Disable them back if it makes no difference. Also please disable or clear the cache if you have any.

    1. Fix spaces between HTML attributes
    2. Fix broken HTML
    3. Fix missing dynamic content
    4. Disable dynamic translation

    Best regards,
    Cristian
