    My website is https://www.technologyvista.com
I am not familiar with coding and all. I can see that EWWW is working great in my site and reduced the jpg sizes to the tune of 8%.But it is giving constant worning that OptiPNG and Gifsicle is is missing. I tried follwoing shifting the binary and copied the exe files in the revevant folder as suggested in the instruction but nothing works. I downloaded these two in *.tar.gz format but the installation or compilation instructions are not clear to me. Can you please help?

Per the link above, I need a little more info before I can help you with that. Also would be useful to know who your webhost is, and what operating system your webserver is running.

    Hi,

Many thanks. My webhost is Godaddy and it is linux based webserver

There have been a few others that have struggled with gifsicle and optipng on godaddy, but one user who got it all running. Would you mind sharing what plan you have with godaddy? Presumably, it’s shared hosting, but what level of hosting do you have?

    Hi,

It is shared hosting but I really don’t know how to know the shared hosting level. Can you please let me know where to see that?

    Regards

I don’t use godaddy, so I can’t say for sure, but I know their website lists Economy, Deluxe, and Ultimate as hosting options.

    See: https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/web-hosting.aspx?ci=76393

As far as gifsicle and optipng go, you’ll need to ask godaddy’s tech support if there are restrictions on using the exec() function to run binaries in your web folder. If they don’t know what you mean, ask to talk to someone more knowledgeable.

FYI, if you have a linux server, it won’t use the .exe files. It’s a common mistake for people new to linux, but .exe files only run on Windows. Linux binaries don’t have an extension, so typically the files you’re looking for are the optipng-linux and gifsicle-linux ones.

However, in the absence of other errors, it is unlikely that manually copying the binaries over will do any good. The plugin would alert you if it was unable to copy the binaries to the proper location automatically.

Also, if all else fails, you can simply disable optipng and gifsicle entirely and the warnings will go away.

I’ve filed a ticket myself with godaddy to see if they will investigate the issue, but I don’t know if they’ll respond, since I’m not a customer of theirs.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your follow up. I will really look forward to a solution. In the meantime, your plugin is doing very good so far as jpeg is concerned. I would really like to donate if my issue is resolved.

Apparently, their first level email support is run by monkeys, so I have to call them to get a proper response.

Well, godaddy couldn’t help me, since I’m not a current customer. I’m going to signup for a month of their service and see what I can find out. Your donation would certainly help with that.

So I did that, and installed wordpress, and installed the EWWW Image Optimizer, and it worked just fine. The only thing I can think of is if the binaries got corrupted in transit. If you copied/uploaded them manually, instead of using the built-in wordpress plugin installer, that can cause issues. So try this:

Deactivate the plugin. Then delete the plugin. Delete everything in the wp-content/ewww folder. Go to your WP dashboard->Plugins->Add New.
Search for ‘ewww’, install it, and activate it and see if that fixes anything.

    Hi,

    Hi,

Did that. First of all it said PNGOUT is missing. I opted for automatic installation and then it gave me OPTIPNG and GIFSICLE is missing and I am back to square one.

    BTW, I donated 20 USD.

    Thank you

Sooo, when you install the plugin, it says jpegtran, optipng, and gifsicle are OK, but as soon as you click the ‘automatic’ install link for pngout, gifsicle and optipng freak out? That is quite strange, are you using the latest version of everything (plugin and WP)?

    Thread Starter amitava235

    (@amitava235)

Yes, exactly like that !! I tried it twice. when you manage to installed so called missing one the other two get missing. Its basically flips around. Right now all these three are missing,

I have downloaded the plugin from the site. Todays’ new WordPress version is not installed. Othersie it is WP-3.6

Can you turn on debugging on the plugin settings page, and paste the output?
