Help needed with homepage

Hi everyone,

I am working on a website for my friend and I needed some help with the homepage.

All I want to do is add a 900X400 picture and bellow that picture have a box that has some text in it with some information about my friend.

Right now all that is on the homepage is a slider that I made with SliderPro (plugin). All I did was go into the includes/featured.php and added the php code that Slider Pro gave me. It works fine that way but now all I want is one simple image:

and then a box of text below it.

I am not good at doing all this and I would really appreciate some help. I tried adding some html to the php and that didn’t work. Again, im not very good at all this but if I got some help I could make it happen.
