• Hi. In the learning process. Have installed several wp sites by following some tutorials … working fine. Now, trying on my own, a rather vanilla setup, using TwentyEleven (and a child). I can “add a new” page and immediately link on the “view page” option and get a “file not found” error. I have deactivated all plugins. Permalinks is set to custom structure /%postname%/. I am at a loss. Test site is https://frankmcleod.com/femsjems-wp. The new page I am setting up is “Ideas and Samples”. Any help would be much appreciated.

BTW – I undid the child theme and put it into TwentyEleven untainted mode … still the same problem.

Do you have the correct .htaccess file uploaded to your website root folder? This is needed for /%postname%/ to work.

Check the htaccess file in “permalink” settings.

Okay, torque-man … you are da’ man. I uploaded the .htaccess file I had from another install and it fixed the problem on the unix host I am using. Thanks for the heads-up on that. I am testing on my home PC which is XP-Pro OS. Do you know of something I can do on my PC system equivalent to having the correct .htaccess? If not, I guess I will just go ahead and port everything up to the live host and do the admin work from there. Thanks.
