• My site updated to WordPress 4.2.4 this morning. And now I’m getting a white screen with this message:

Fatal error: GeoIP API: Error traversing database – perhaps it is corrupt? in /home4/marble/public_html/themoneynote.com/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-geo-ip.php on line 1401

I assume something about the Woo Commerce plugin isn’t playing nicely with the WordPress update. Is there a chance this will remedy itself or should I take action?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, I deactivated it via ftp. Went in to look around and saw nothing out of the ordinay – all plugins are up to date, etc. I re-activated it and it seems to be fine now. Ugh.

    Hi,

I get the following error when trying to log in to my wordpress site.

Fatal error: GeoIP API: Error traversing database – perhaps it is corrupt? in /home/robertow/public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-geo-ip.php on line 1535

    any idea?
i should try deactivating the ecommerce plugin via ftp?

    Roberto.

Hello Roberto, its because of the Geolocate update. have you updated the wocommerce? i have received the same problem, i have solved it by going to Wocommerce > Settings > Default Customer Address (choose no address instead of Geolocate) you website should work normally, you can reactivate the Geolocate again if you really need it. Hope you have an access to your wordpress dashboard.

    Regards,

    Bara

    It worked!! yeahh

    Thank you very much Bara!!
    Regards,

    Roberto.

    baraaj ThX !!!!

I think I’m having the same problem. I can’t access the Woocommerce settings at all though. The entire site front/back is down.

Is my only recourse to nuke the plugin via FTP at this point, and then reinstall and not use the GEO location of doom?

Hello, if you cannot access your wordpress dashboard then you can use the FTP access and just rename the Plugins folder to anything else all plugins will be deactivated then rename it again to its original name (Plugins Then you can just reactive all plugins again at once and to turn off the geolocate.

    Regards,

    Bara

or you can just rename the woocommerce plugin folder as we already know that the problem comes through it.

ah…You mean, I should’ve just used the ‘website/server manager’ side of my brain.

I should’ve just renamed it ‘BooCommerce’.

Actually, I nuked it, reinstalled it, activated it, and then I set the default customer address to ‘No Address’. Seems to be working now.

Question: Is there someplace else in the wooCommerce admin to shutoff any ‘listening’ the Geo IP API may be doing?

    I appreciate the help!

yes you could just actually rename it instead of delete it and then after you access wp rename it to its original and then activate it. You just need to turn of the the geolocate you can even now reactivate it normally if you need it..

    Try delete this files:

    wp-content/uploads/GeoIP.dat
    wp-content/uploads/GeoIPv6.dat

    That works

I’ve deleted the Geo files, I turned off the geolocate, and I’m still having the same exact issue as above. what gives? how is everyone else solving it?
