    Hi all,

    I’m in the process of applying a new theme to my Church’s website, and I am using this Sermon Manager plugin because the old theme required me having to use both their sermon plugin as well as another podcast plugin powered by Seriously Simple podcasting to submit podcasts to iTunes, Google and other podcast readers. This meant that I had to essentially upload every sermon twice: One to the theme’s sermon manager to have it display on the website, and another to the podcast manager so it would display on iTunes etc.

    The new theme I am using does not have a sermon solution, but I discovered this Sermon Manager plugin that has shortcodes that allow me to accomplish what was possible with the old theme, as well as submitting directly to iTunes which means I only need to use one plugin to do what I need (which is great!).

    The problem is that I am struggling to find a way to use this Sermon Manager plugin to submit the newly created sermons to the existing RSS feed that has all the previous sermons (https://www.newcreationchurch.co.uk/?feed=podcast). I have a feeling that the solution lies somewhere in utilising redirections, but that is where the extent of my knowledge ends.

    I can see that the Sermon Manager plugin has given me this feed to submit to iTunes (https://www.newcreationchurch.co.uk/?feed=rss2&post_type=wpfc_sermon) but I am concerned that if I resubmit the podcast to iTunes, it will only be the iTunes podcast that receives the new sermons submitted through that plugin and none of the other services.

    Is anyone bale to assist?
    Kind regards

    Hi there,

    There is a way to solve this, and it’s an easy one!

    Just go to Sermon Manager Settings -> Podcasting, and check the option named “Redirect”. After that, two fields will show up, in the old URL put the existing feed URL, and in the new one put the URL that Sermon Manager gave you. Save the settings and try visiting the old URL – it should redirect to the new one.

    After that, you don’t have to do anything, iTunes will pick it up and get the new sermons. ??

    Hi Nikola,
    Thank you for your response! I successfully changed the URL on the settings page and there has definitely been progress. It looks like I have now hit another road block and I really hope you can help!

    When attempting to validate the RSS feed, I’m given the following errors “Sorry
    This feed does not validate.

    line 1, column 0: Undefined root element: br [help]

    <br />
    line 2, column 0: XML parsing error: <unknown>:2:0: junk after document element [help]

    <b>Warning</b>: strpos(): Empty needle in <b>/home/newcrear/public_html/wp- …”

    Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

    Update: I attempted to submit the feed address provided by Sermons Manager (https://www.newcreationchurch.co.uk/?feed=rss2&post_type=wpfc_sermon) to iTunes and was given an error message that says “Can’t parse your feed.”. Further attempts to validate the feed have returned messages like “It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn’t find one. Please enter the address of your feed to validate.”. What am I doing wrong?
