Help! Restored my blog instead of backing up and all the settings are gone!

I wanted to backup my whole blog and I followed these instruction, see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Backups (see Data Backup instructions). I did this but then my whole blog was gone and what I did, to get parts of it back, I imported all posts and pages in wordpress. unfortunately all the plug ins, widgets, side banners etc. are gone. i have bunch of .sql files on my desktop (somehow I have 3 wordpress files) and I don’t know if my lost files are in there. I am afraid to do anything with those, I don’t even know how to find out what’s on those files…. I am totally clueless and so depressed because of all the work that’s been lost. can anyone help me? Thanks!
