HELP!!! Site displaying images

Help I deleted a the page that was set as my homepage by permalinks. Not I can’t log into my site. I can see the links for the sit but not any graphics. When I go to the WP admin panel it simply takes me back to my homepage. I know this has something to do with my .htaccess file. When I remove this file via FTP I’m at least able to see my site without graphics but when I add the file back to my site I get the following error “500 Internal Server Error” so for right now I’m removing this file.
