• I am receiving emails everyday with people’s email addresses but it looks spammy and I’m not quite sure what to do. It is all appearing under feedback on the admin side of things, I checked a few of the IP addresses and they are coming from Sweden, Latvia, as well as the USA, it seems to be from one region at a time, the email addresses look real but there are no names or anything. I’ve had Askimet this whole time and it hasn’t prevented this, I am just not sure what to do, as it is not coming through my pop-up subscribe form but in response to one specific blog article that doesn’t even have that many views. Please recommend what I should do, thanks in advanced.

  • Since you didn’t give a URL I can’t look at an example or anything and you are talking about feedback and emails so I’m not sure what these really are.

If they’re emails (received via your email program) then Akismet probably never seen them. Your email program will need to deal with them.

If they’re feedback received on your website then you need to look at whatever feedback method you are using to receive these and deal with them appropriately.

If they are comments and Akismet doesn’t recognize them as spam then you need to mark them as spam and then delete.

If you can identify the spammer by IP address or CIDR range then you can block them via htaccess.

You can sometimes locate country-specific lists of IPs to ban most all users from that area.

Sometimes the bad actor will trigger firewalls so running something like WordFence might help you slightly.

    Hope something here helps.

@jnashhawkins Thank you so much for your response, sorry if it was not clear, I’m just not too sure what is happening. But what I think it is, is a comment response, which because of my settings it is not actually public on my blog, it is getting filtered. But I will mark as spam and delete to see if that stops it from reoccurring. I am jsut getting these types of comments everyday. Thanks again, much appreciated!
