Help to insert layout

The help files for how to use this plugin are hard to locate. I created a page and gave it a title. Do I insert the layout code where the text would normally be? I tried that and it works, but I also see <?php echo do_shortcode(‘ before the expected display of posts, then I see ‘); ?> after? Not sure what is to be done.
