I have CF7 4.2.1 running on a user-installed WP ver 4.2.2 using a recently ported GoDaddy Cpanel instance. Am not sure when the form stopped emailing though do know it was sometime after 6.24.2015. Since I am a shared host instance, I don’t have access to MAILDIR, I don’t think, so I have no idea how to recover any emails that didn’t go. Our season is cranking up and I need to fix this so appreciate any troubleshooting steps anyone can share.

  • Though the plugin successfully sends millions of emails every day, there are a host of issues that can stop or delay emails on both the sending and receiving ends. It depends entirely on your local Server & WordPress configuration. You will need to investigate this issue for your particular local configuration.

See Contact Form 7 Email Issues. There is a link at the bottom of the page to a comprehensive and detailed article which covers many issues. Most people that work through this information appear to be able to resolve their email sending & receiving issues.

Also consider using a submission storage plugin like Contact Form DB or Contact Form 7 Storage to save all your CF7 form submits to the WP database. These are often used by experienced WP users – they provide a robust record of all form submissions even when things go a little wrong.

Thanks. I have been working with both Google and GoDaddy. The problem ended up being Godaddy configuration setting in Cpanel. It was defaulting to deliver locally. When I set Cpanel>MX Entry>Mail Routing to “Remote Mail Exchanger,” it all started working. So the answer to my question regarding how long and when it stopped working was clearly when we moved the site to cpanel. I am intrigued by the storage to the WP database and will consider that. Thanks again for your help.
