Help! “Unfortunately we do not ship to default”

Hi there,

Have you been able to reproduce the issue at all on your end? I tried entering a Saint Paul, Minnesota address, but did not see an error at Checkout.

It appears that error message would be displayed if the customer’s shipping address country is not in the list of supported shipping countries:

For some reason it is going to some “default” value, which could be related to a possible conflict.

Please send a screenshot of your settings under WooCommerce > Settings > General.

Also, please share a copy of your site’s System Status. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here in your reply. Please note that since this is a public forum, you may want to remove any sensitive information that you don’t want shared publicly.

Hello. I can confirm this bug as well. It’s been randomly giving the error at one of our websites for maybe a couple of months now. Initially, I thought it was limited to just US customers, but just had a customer from Portugal send me a screenshot with the same error.

Thank you for providing that screenshot and status report. I have so far been unable to reproduce the issue, either on your site or on my test sites. I have also not found other reports of the issue while searching our support system.
Have you been able to reproduce the issue yourself?

Generally, strange behavior like this is caused by conflicts with code in custom themes or other active plugins. In those cases, we would generally recommend conflict testing, however if you are not able to reproduce the issue then that makes troubleshooting much more difficult.

Please let me know if you are able to reproduce the issue, and if so, the steps to do so as well.

Unfortunately, I haven’t heard from any other customers saying they’re having this same issue, which means either it’s not happening anymore, or it is happening and they’re not reaching out to tell me.

Hey Stanoam! You’ve been having this same issue, do you know if you can reproduce the issue so maybe we can figure this one out?

Seems to happen completely at random and it’s specific to one website. If I open the checkout page using VPN it always appears normal to me. An interesting thing I noticed is that it affected one particular customer three times. So I’m wondering it’s not something browser or device related, rather on our end. Also, problem hasn’t appeared int he past couple of weeks, so fingers crossed, whatever was provoking it has been fixed.

I suspect you’re right about it probably being device or browser related. That makes sense since most people don’t have the issue.

Thankfully this issue is so rare that it’s not a huge burden on our online businesses. With that in mind, I’m going to say farewell and thanks again.

It’s good that neither of you have seen the issue occur recently — as you mentioned “fingers crossed” hopefully whatever was causing it has been fixed.

Also, as you mentioned, it could certainly be browser/device/network related since it occurred for a specific user a few times, but does not affect you or the majority of your users. If you are able to get any other information from that user about their specific setup (browser, etc) then perhaps we could look into this deeper.

Otherwise, please just watch out for any other occurrences of the issue — but again, hopefully there are none and the issue has already resolved itself.
