I am NOT a techie, and can’t get upgraded to pro. (I’ve tried following written and youtube video instructions.) After following YouTube instructions, I used filezilla to upload the pro zip and this is what is in the log file…

Status: Retrieving directory listing of “/public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member-pro/pro-module.php”…
    Command: CWD /public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member-pro/pro-module.php
Response: 550 Can’t change directory to /public_html/wp-content/plugins/s2member-pro/pro-module.php: No such file or directory

The instructions don’t have the “public_html” part, and I have no clue how to fix that. Support indicates they are closed on the weekend, and if I had known I had to spend hours figuring this out I would have picked another plugin to pay for. I know I am not a techie, but they didn’t mention I needed to be.

Does anyone have instructions their grandma could follow? ?? Thanks to any kind soul that has time to help me.

My plugin listing on my WP page still shows the unpaid version (Version 151218) by the way. I just installed that 2 days ago, and haven’t been able to get PayPal to work with it, so thought paying for the upgrade would be easier. (oops!)

I used filezilla to upload the pro zip

You must unzip the file first before uploading. Then upload the resultant folder s2member-pro to the plugins folder.

How and where do I unzip the folder first? The guy in the S2member video just uploaded the file to his computer, and then took that file and transferred it in filezilla to his WP folder on the right.

I am really not a techie, and all this stuff is way over my head.

Put the zip file on your desktop. Then, depending on your operating system, double-click on it. You should then see the folder. Drag and drop that onto your desktop. Now upload that folder using Filezilla.

“that folder” meaning just the php file within the entire zip file? gets transferred into filezilla?

(Really, really appreciate the help, by the way!)

No, I mean the whole folder called s2member-pro.

It should be uploaded so that it sits alongside (i.e. not inside) the folder called s2member

Thanks, but even though the file transfers over, I still don’t have pro when I login to my WP site. I didn’t do enough research about how hard it would be to do, my fault. It was so easy to install the free version, I assumed it would be easy to upgrade.

Followed this YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhUos6quqxA&index=1&list=PL8gPolqFnYqsV3FuJlY1KyL-fPgx5HWQv and this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joXUMhr8PhU along with the written instructions, just so everyone knows.

    the file transfers over

You need to transfer a folder, not a file. There should be many files within that folder.

Let’s check that this folder is installed in the right place:

    1. Into what folder have you put the s2member-pro folder?
    2. What other folders (note: folders, not files) can you see in the same folder?
    3. What files are in the s2member-pro folder?
    4. In Filezilla, when you click on the the s2member-pro folder, what code is displayed under Permissions?
    5. Does this code match the code displayed for the other folders you can see there?

Oh boy, that check list really helped! I realized that I still had a zip file, so it wasn’t working. How embarrassing, and I can’t thank you enough for taking time out of your day to help me. Thanks!

All looks good now. Hopefully it won’t be so hard to get the pro version working with my Stripe account and I can get my pay buttons on there and be done. Whew!

Forgot to mark the thread as done, thanks to KTS915

    My pleasure!

You should never have to do this again, because updates work in the same way as updates of other plugins. And Stripe works beautifully with s2Member: it’s what I use.

    Good luck!
