Help with a couple of things

    Hello everyone,

    Today is my first day using WP. I feel as though I’m having pretty good luck so far. However, there are a few things I can’t seem to figure out.

    1. My comment button is not showing up. I’ve double checked my settings to ensure that comments are enabled and also checked for each individual blog, article, etc. The button is simply not appearing. A Google search returned several reports of the same problem but I still can’t find a solution that works for me.

    2. I can’t seem to change my footer color. Again, this was a pretty common problem on Google. The solution seemed as simple as changing the color code within a file. I located the file but can’t find the same string of text that everyone is saying to edit (different versions of WP maybe?)

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Welcome to WordPress. ?? Proceed slowly and you’ll do fine for day 2 as well.

    The location of the comment button and colors of different items in WordPress is a function of your WordPress theme. Can you share a link to your site? If you’re using one of the theme’s from the WordPress theme repository here then I’m sure you’ll get some suggestions.

    I’m using a custom theme I created on wpthemegenerator.com

    When I open my control panel, I navigate to Appearance>Editor. That seems to be the location that everyone is suggestion to add the code. As you can see this screenshot, there are several files on the right that I can edit. I can’t find the string in any that I’ve tried.

    I’d not heard of that theme provider before but that’s not unusual: there are a lot of theme sources out there.

    That’s not a theme we can support here so you may want to contact them instead.

    As this is your first time using WordPress I recommend that you (for now) keep is simple. Try using either the Twenty Eleven theme or the Twenty Twelve theme for your installation.

    Once you get more familiar with the ins and outs of WordPress then start playing with different themes.
