Help with bbpress

  • I just spent a good chunk of the day fiddling with Simple:Press, Mingle and bbpress. Right now, I’m feeling a little tired.

    I already found out that WP Mingle (not Mingle Forum) is not liking my version of WordPress. Too bad. My main reason for liking Simple:Press is the options that’s readily available for me to set up a forum. I may be overcautious; however I do want to easily set up permissions for specific user group. Plus, I want to disallow shortlinks.

    I looked at bbpress and I’m totally lost. Is there an easy to use overlay that would help in setting up bbpress? Here’s the forum that I want to create for Inspiration Point (https://inspiration-point.org) It’s essentially a classified ad style forum.

    My blog is mainly for writing encouraging stories. I am intending the forum to be a value added item and not the main thing. I was also hoping to use it to generate an income.

    I’d also like to create a more general forum, too.

    Any ideas?
