Help with child themes?

It’s pretty basic, but you will likely find other resources if you google it.

But before you do that, have you made changes to theme files (i.e. the style.css file or any .php files)? If not, then you are okay to update. Making other changes using the dashboard – options and settings, posts and pages, won’t be lost when updating.

Not sure to be honest made it for a friend a long time back and they asked for help.

Yep that is what I looked at.
