Help with conditional tag if paged

Would you be kind enough to expand on how this might be written in my code? I tried the following but it didn’t work.

<?php if( $page == 1 ) {

<div>..content..</div>

} ?>

No. Not is_page(). Use is_paged(). There is a big difference between the two conditionals.
