Help with ContactForm

  • I’m trying to implement Jason Gillyon’s contact form on my site, and I can’t seem to get it to work quite right. The form executes perfectly outside of WP, but as soon as I try to integrate it into the mx4 theme, it ceases to work.

    Ok, here goes: This contact form is comprised of two files a) ContactForm b) gd.php file that generates a new security code at every visit. This form works pefectly in a folder outside the WP install.

    Now, heres what I’ve done:

    1. I’ve created a PAGE and named it Contact. To view the Page code, go HERE

    2. The file gd.php has been placed in my theme directory.

    3. I’ve checked and rechecked everything, but I cant seem to figure it out as I’m not that bright at this sort of thing.

    Whats happening is that its not generating a random security code. As soon as it generates one, it won’t generate others upon refreshing. No emails are being sent to me ??

    I appreciate any help that you can give me, and you can check out what the contact Page looks like by going HERE

    PS. I’ve tried WP-contactform and couldnt get it to align right, and I’d preffer using this form if I could get it to work correctly.

  • Your second link is redirecting to Microsoft. That isn’t right, is it?

    I’m curious, what was wrong with the alignment of the WP-Contact plugin? It was easy to install and worked shortly after I installed it. Are you tyring to heavily modify it or something?

    Crap, I put https:// twice in the link ?? Sorry about that :).

    As far as the WP-Contact form goes, I did nothing but install it and implement it into a page. WHen I visited the page, the form was aligning to the right and off the page in FF, but it looked fine in IE.

    That’s odd about the way it rendered in FF because I’m using it on my blog and it looks fine in that browser. But you probably are going for the security thing, which seems to be part of that plugin, so I guess it doesn’t matter. ??

    Yeah, I see what you’re saying about the code not generating. Apparently, it’s not challenging me when I send a message with all fields blank.

    Hmmm, sorry, I’m afraid I’m not going to be of much help here. I was trying to win you over to WP-Contact and offer you another view of what I’m seeing. I’m sure somebody when come along and be able to help you more. Good luck!

    Ryanduff, it doesn’t appear to center in FF.

    I’m guessing here, but you could either adjust the CSS for the form itself (inside the plugin code), or create a new style and wrap it around the form.

    That’s odd, my implementation of wp-contactform looks best in Firefox. But, you can easily correct the positioning by adjusting the CSS values inside the plugin file.

    Yeah I really don’t understand why the Contact form works fine for some people out of the box and not for others. My only conclusion would be that the CSS that is in your stylesheet would be doing something. Probably your content or post divs.

    Anyway as for the actual implementation of the original form…none of the links are working for me, so i can’t really help. Sorry.
