• We have a wordpress site that is hosted by GoDaddy.

When logging into our website: https://merry-go-roundresale.com/, our plugins said they needed to be updated.

After updating the plug-ins, our website went offline & now says “there is a critical error”. At that point there was nothing we could do backend.

Support groups recommended to disconnect the site & reconnect. Now that the site has been disconnected, it can’t reconnect to the jetpack to as the “critical error” message is blocking this.

How do we fix this issue?

  • To identify what’s causing the error, you’ll need to look at your PHP error logs. These can often be found in a file called “error_log” in the public_html directory of your account, but can vary by configuration and hosting provider.

If you can’t locate them, contact your host for assistance.

The error log should hopefully clue you into what’s causing the problem. If not, contact your host for assistance.

Login to your GoDaddy.com account. Find the file manager area. Find the WP-content folder. Find the Plugins folder. Temporarily rename the PLUGINS folder to Plugins-old. This will deactivate ALL plugins and might help you get into the WP-Admin area to continue to do further troubleshooting to determine which (if any) plugin might have a problem after recently updating.

If you are not sure how to find the File Manager in your account – contact GoDaddy.com’s support team.
