Help with CSS text box over image?

I’m using the Imbalance2 theme for my site and would like to have a small semi-transparent box with some text show up when I hover over an image on the homepage. What I’m looking for https://mixdup.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/question.jpg
I don’t know enough about CSS to do this. Can anyone help?
