Help with custom coding

Hi,

My site is built on WP but has a lot of custom code in it. The developer who worked on it has coded Yoast term ids into all the pages. Now whenever I update the plugin the site crashes.

I want to remove the Yoast from the code and keep it separate. I asked around and the few people I spoke to said that I need to redo the site entirely from scratch. This is not at all feasible for many reasons for me. Is there any other way around it?
