Help with custome page template and footer

  • Hi,

    Im new to wordpress and have come a little stuck! I have two problems;

    1) I am trying to make a custom page template where I have just one section in the middle of the page and no sidebar. I have tried to do this on my homepage but so far i am failing! I have my mock picture on the pgae but when I change it to my custom template it disappears..

    2) I edited my footer.php so It would have my info in and now the text is not centred. Whats the easiest way for me to centre the text in the footer?
