Help with database reset

  • I’ve determined that my site contains some nasty code somewhere that’s causing email delivery problems. I presume the solution is a database restore to a date prior to the time the problem occurred…about 35 days ago.

    I don’t understand the process. Will a restore lose content? How about plugins I’ve added? Which database do I restore?

    I’ve read the help files, but I fear a mistake here will destroy a bunch of work. Can someone offer a bit of guidance?

    Yes, a database restore will lose any content additions and/or edits done since the backup was made.

    How about plugins I’ve added?

    A database restore would not cause plugins be lost, however they might contain malware code and probably should somehow be analyzed and cleaned

    Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
