Help with formatting and Visual Composer integration

Hi everyone

I can’t get this plugin to work with the Ultimate Shortcodes plugin or the Visual Composer plugin. I’m a real beginner with code so I like to be able to add elements with real-time visualization in the editor. But when I use this plugin, the Visual Composer plugin isn’t available and the when I insert an Ultimate Shortcode it just shows up in the backend editor as text, even when I click on the “Visual” tab.

I finally got to this result by building another page with Visual Composer, then copying and pasting all the code over.

However there are some things that I’d still like to fix
1. Get rid of the left-aligned “Eat&Drink” category title at the top of the page
2. Get rid of all the content below the six post grid boxes (from the “edit” to the end of the page)

Also, is it possible to use this plugin to edit the post excerpt lengths?
1. I don’t want the category and title showing up by default before the excerpt
2. I want to limit the post excerpt to a set number of characters

I’m using the Lifestyle child theme of Omega
