Help with HTML

Hi, I recently started a new blog. I wanted to remove the tags from my post. I researched it and deleted it from my site. It was a success but for some reason on single.php it also removed the comment box. So reinstalled the theme. The comment box came back but so did all the tags. There are no tags on the home page, just the single posts. When I went to delete the tags, there is no tag coding. So I changed the theme. Same story, tags only on the single post page and no code. I even reinstalled wordpress, got a new theme and same story. please help me I am losing my mind. I am not html savvy and am one step away from throwing my laptop;)
