Help with new themes

When putting new themes into WP 2.05, and then going to presentation tab, all new themes are listed as broken, error message states that css file and template are missing. This is happening no matter what theme I try to use other than default abd classic. I have uploaded and used themes on older version of WP, so I’am familiar with how it is done. Thanks in advance for any help.
