• Ok, I’m such a novice at this it isn’t even funny but here’s what I need to do.

I’m trying to set up my blog with a static front page called News. I want to add only those posts with the category of News to that page. I know there needs to be a page somewhere where all posts appear but I don’t want anyone to see that page.

Then I want to write posts that only appear under the categories I have links to on the sidebar. (Of course they would appear on the page where all posts are published but noone would see that) So if you click chocolate cake recipes on the sidebar you would only the get posts for chocolate cake recipes. (Actually I have this part working)

Here’s what I’ve done so far: I set up the page and a category called News. Then I went to the reading section and set up the static page and the Front Page as news.

But when I add a post with a category of News it doesn’t show up on the news page. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Install the Page Links To plugin, edit your static page and add the News category URL in the Page Link To box at the bottom.

I found that posted somewhere before and I had already tried that. I guess I’m not understanding where the “News category URL” is. I tried copying it from the address bar but it just took me to the page to set up the News category.

If the News category shows in your sidebar, click on that link and then copy from the address bar to put into the PLT link.

If not, try putting code like `https://yoursite.com/?cat=55′ in the URL, replacing yoursite.com with your own site, and 55 with the id of the News category.

A link to your site might help figure this out.
