• First off, THANK YOU for taking up this plugin and keeping it going, I appreciate it!

Your plugin (and the old one) work great when I use quick redirects for non-existent pages, however, when I try to redirect a pre-existing page, I can’t get it to redirect at all.

I created a new page, put “Redirecting” in the content, selected “Make redirect active” and put the forwarding url, then made sure to make it a “Meta Redirect” with 1 second. I published it and tested it out..

The browser shows nothing but white, completely blank, nothing loads and nothing redirects. I go into the plugin’s meta settings and check “Load Page Content?”, it then loads the site but still doesn’t redirect. If I remove all redirect settings within the page then everything loads as normal.

I went back into meta settings and changed “body” to “redirectpage” and created a new CSS class in my css that just turns the text bold. Wrapped that tag within a span tag around “Redirecting” in the content, but it still doesn’t redirect.

    Thoughts?

Second issue is for some reason your plugin (and the old one) are ignoring one quick redirect I have set up. It just happened to be the first one I tested out after switching to your plugin, but I get a 404 error. I went into the settings and it’s entered correctly. I deleted it and re-entered it and tried again, same problem. Don’t have a problem with any other redirect from what I can tell. This is for a link that is no longer valid, so there is no post or page for it.

    Help?
    Thanks!
    E

    Hello?

Nevermind, found another plugin that worked for this particular set of problems.

@esch, I apologize for the delay. Been a little swamped with the day job.

I have time set aside for this afternoon to devote to troubleshooting the issues everyone’s brought up, so I will be doing that, and hopefully continuing development of v2 today.

FYI the second issue I mentioned above was something not related to your plugin. I made the mistake of creating a subdir in root on my server that was the same name as the end part of the redirect name, and that caused a conflict. Removed subdir and redirect worked again.

I’ll be interested to hear if you can fix the first problem in my post, because I would rather use this instead of this other plugin I found.

    Thanks!

::forehead slap:: I hate it when that happens, Esch, haha! Glad you got that one sorted. I’ll definitely be digging into ALL the issues this afternoon, though.

Good to know, thanks. A quick question. What I am using this particular redirect for is to track hits to that page via Google Analytics from a very specific source. I know quick redirects will not be tracked via Analytics, but since this is a physical page, will the hit be registered with Analytics before the page redirects them to where I need them to go?

@esch, only if the full page (including the code for Google Analytics) is able to load before the redirect takes place.

Question: What browser are you using for this redirect page? Do you have a link handy I can look at for testing?

I’ve just tested this on FireFox and Chrome, without any issues, but that doesn’t mean didly.

What I did find odd is that this is being redirected via javascript, rather than a meta tag, which seems counter-intuitive.

@bearlydoug, I guess there’s no way to tell if it loads the hit in time until testing is done.

I was using both Firefox and Chrome with the same result. Can you give me your email and I’ll email you the link?

Maybe the JS conflict is what is preventing it from working as it should?

Esch, go ahead and reply with your link… if you wait two minutes after posting your reply, you can edit it to remove the link. I’ve got email notifications set up, so I’ll get the URL from there. ??

@bearlydoug, ok here is the link.

@esch, got it. Already caught a javascript error.

Do me a favor… uncheck the jquery functionality via WP Admin > Quick Redirects > Redirect Options > “Use jQuery?” and re-test, please.

@bearlydoug, Everything on that page is already unchecked. :/

Actually, I need the other settings page, not the meta one. ??

Look closer, I’m not on the meta one. On the right you’ll see “Redirect Options” is highlighted in the admin panel.
